Strengthening cooperation in the field of fire prevention and fighting and search and rescue with US agencies and organizations

 From June 16 to 25, 2025, the delegation of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department led by Lieutenant General Nguyen Tuan Anh, Director of the Department, attended the Conference and Exhibition of the National Fire Prevention Association of the United States; worked with relevant US agencies to discuss fire prevention and rescue work.

 The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Conference and Exhibition took place at the Madalay Bay Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from June 16-18, 2025. Based on the actual program, the delegation attended the plenary sessions and visited the Fire and Rescue Equipment Exhibition.

At the plenary meeting, the delegation was exposed to topics on social growth and the impact of growth on ensuring fire safety, electricity and people's lives; the application of drones in medical activities, emergency transportation as well as the effectiveness of the devices in reducing carbon dioxide emissions into the environment...

This year's NFPA exhibition has more than 300 booths of agencies, organizations, and businesses from the United States and other countries around the world displaying new and advanced products, equipment, systems, and technologies for fire prevention and rescue in the world. The delegation consulted and studied a number of modern equipment necessary for the actual fire prevention and rescue work in Vietnam.

During the working trip, the delegation worked with UL Solutions and UL Standards & Engagement to discuss future cooperation directions, focusing on coordinating the quality control of UL-certified goods and products imported into the Vietnamese market

Lieutenant General Nguyen Tuan Anh, Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Head of the working delegation, discussed with Ms. Karine Johnfroe, Vice President and General Director of UL Solutions at the working session on the sidelines of the NFPA Conference and Exhibition.

At the meeting with the Las Vegas Fire Prevention and Rescue Department, Mr. Fernando Gray, Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Department, expressed his pleasure at welcoming the first delegation of the Vietnam Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force to work. Mr. Fernando Gray said he is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department in state management of fire prevention and rescue.

The Director, Head of the working group, proposed that the Las Vegas Fire Prevention and Rescue Department increase experience exchange activities in state management of fire prevention and rescue; support the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department in training, improving the quality of human resources to carry out fire prevention and rescue activities, and support in finding sources of fire prevention and rescue equipment. Mr. Fernando Grey happily accepted and suggested that the two sides soon agree on the content of cooperation through the designated focal points to soon promote implementation in the coming time.

During the working session with Hochiki America Company, a unit specializing in manufacturing fire alarm equipment, the delegation studied the 7th version of the Fire Alarm Control Panel manufactured by the Company. This is a new, intelligent addressable fire alarm system, ensuring accurate fire detection, helping the authorities quickly reach the location of the fire.

After listening to the experts of Hochiki America, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tuan Anh highly appreciated the quality of products manufactured by Hochiki, in which, Hochiki's fire alarm system has reduced false fire alarms and provided the exact address and location of the fire so that the authorities can quickly approach and extinguish the fire. The Director also asked Hochiki to actively coordinate with the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department in controlling the quality of goods, limiting fake Hochiki brand fire alarm equipment and systems in the Vietnamese market.

At the meeting with the Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco, the Director General, Head of the working delegation, discussed and updated Vietnam's new legal documents in the field of fire prevention and fighting and rescue; the recent fire and explosion situation in the country as well as the orientation to build a regular, elite, modern Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police force to meet the requirements of the industrialization and modernization of the country. The Head of the delegation respectfully requested the Consulate General to help find sources of aid for fire prevention and fighting and rescue equipment to equip and improve the combat capacity of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police force.

In an exchange with the delegation, Comrade Hoang Anh Tuan, Consul General, Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco, updated the situation of the Vietnamese community living and working in San Francisco in particular and in the United States in general. At the same time, to contribute to expanding the international cooperation of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, the Consulate General will support the search for aid sources as well as connect with US state management agencies so that the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department and partners can promote cooperation, enhance experience exchange to effectively apply to the state management of fire prevention and rescue in Vietnam.

Through this working trip to the United States, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department has studied and accessed scientific and technological achievements as well as expanded cooperation with US state management agencies on fire prevention and rescue. This will be the foundation to further promote cooperation with US partners to study and effectively apply it to state management on fire prevention and rescue in Vietnam.
